Tor Hyams
Tor Hyams has over
15 years of experience in the music and film industries, from
writing and performing his own material to producing world-class
recording artists, live music festivals for children, short films
and digital programming, and composing dozens of scores for both
film and television.
Hyams founded HyLo Entertainment in 2002 as an umbrella
company for his broadening activities. He wrote and produced
the award-winning, star-studded children's CD called "A World
of Happiness," which is soon to be released through
Paul Frank Industries, featuring performances from Samuel L.
Jackson, Magic Johnson, Lou Rawls, Isaac Hayes, Debbie Harry,
Gary Oldman, Perry Farrell, and many others. He has also produced
a music video for that release, The Patience Bossa, directed by Gary Oldman,
featuring an unprecedented duet by Rock icons Perry Farrell and
Deborah Harry.
With Farrell, Hyams then conceived and developed Kidzapalooza
as a family festival nested within the reformed Lollapalooza Festival, produced by C3 Presents. Kidzapalooza, now in its fourth
successful year with Hyams as Producer and Emcee, has been contracted
through 2011. Continuing his live music work with C3, Hyams now
produces The Kiddie Limits stage for Austin City Limits and Little State for the
Big State Country Music Festival as well.
As a music producer, Hyams star has been rising, with albums
for Joan Osborne, Vivian Campbell, Broadway Star Rachel York,
Jewish rappers Chutzpah, and the late Lou Rawls already under
his belt. He has continued to work with Lisa Loeb, Perry Farrell,
Deborah Harry and more. Hyams produced a Diane Warren composition
for MTV, which featured Michelle Branch, Bubba Sparxx & Sleepy
Brown, Monica and J.C. Chasez.
Hyams has composed the score for several feature films for
companies such as Miramax, Artisan Entertainment, Focus Features
and Fox Searchlight. In television he has composed themes and
music packages for NBC, ABC, CBS, TBS, Showtime, THC, USA, FX,
Bravo, MTV, Sony and Paramount Television.
As a producer of visual and interactive media, Hyams created,
sold and executed a pilot for Fox Television Studios, wrote,
produced and starred in several national ad campaigns, including
Ask.coms Go Smiley and Get Zwinky campaigns and the Peeve Report
for Mypetpeeves.com. He produced and starred in the award-winning
short musical comedy film Chutzpah, This Is?, co-starring George
Segal, Debi Mazar and Gary Oldman, which premiered at the HBO
Comedy Festival. He also produced another Gary Oldman directed
music video for Chutzpahs upcoming 2nd CD release.
Most recently, Hyams and his HyLo partner David Scharff founded Overwhelming Entertainment to act as a conduit
for their multimedia productions, and have already optioned original,
scripted programs to Endemol USA and other production companies.
