Lollapalooza announces Kidzapalooza lineupalooza

Lest we forget in all the excitement over when Tool’s gonna play, Lollapalooza offers music for li’l kids, too. And the Grant Park filler announced the lineup for the 2009 edition of Kidzapalooza—minus those secret superstar special guests. Watching Slash rip through “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” from 15 feet away was a Lolla highlight last year. This year I’m keeping my fingers crossed for rappin’ dads the Beastie Boys to pop in for a set.

Like last year’s twee-noise Tiny Masters of Today, the rather similar (and brilliantly named) Care Bears on Fire is the act to catch for those without children just looking for an entertaining rock & roll band. Though, since I last checked in on its MySpace a couple of years ago, the trio has gone a little more mall-punk. But, hey, at least they’re actually kids who would hang out in a mall, not 40-year-old biologists.
