Kidzapalooza Chicago is over for another year

Record crowds turned out to attend our parent (deliberate pun) festival, Lollapalooza - which sold out for all three days, meaning an estimated 225,000 people inhabited the space at Grant Park this weekend - and Kidzapalooza also saw it's largest crowd to date yesterday, due to the impromptu performance by Lollapalooza founder, Perry Farrell and the rock legend that is Slash - and that was just one of many highlights for this year!

To catch up on all the fun, including photos and the odd video, visit our official blog.

We'd like to thank everyone who came and joined in the fun with us. It's been an absolute blast and we look forward to seeing you all again in Chicago next year!

Kidzapalooza Chicago 2008 has kicked off!

Day 1 of the Lollapalooza festival has come to a close and what an amazing day it has been! With estimates that Lolla will hit the 200,000 attendance mark this year, highlights for the grown ups today inlcuded The Racontours, The Kills, UK group Bloc Party and Radiohead.

For those who were hanging out at the Kidzapalooza stage, highlights included an impressive line up of acts including Jeff Tweedy, Paul Green's School of Rock AllStars and Tiny Masters of Today - and all the activities on offer were an absolute hit!

As Alma writes today on Chicago Moms Blog:

"Here's what we loved (all free):

  • Body painting "tattooz" and freshly silk-screened t-shirts and tote bags by artists from Small Paul.
  • Playing with the real rock band instruments in the School of Rock Petting Zoo
  • Designing a CD cover with the nice folks from Crazy Kids Chicago and Art & Soul
  • The Paul Green School of Rock All-Stars. I didn't spy any pre-pubescent guitar protegies, but the world-touring band of teens did some great covers of rock and roll classics." - Chicago Moms Blog (August 1, 2008)

Other activites included Hairdooz with Siren Salon and the BrickHeadz breakdancing workshops. (Click here to see a video of the BrickHeadz today at the Kidzapalooza stage, courtesy of Lolla Base Station)

Days 2 & 3 are yet to come and this year promises to be the best Kidzapalooza yet! See you there!
