You Are Here, the debut album from thenewno2, was created by guitarist/
synth player/vocalist Dhani Harrison and drummer/synth player Oli Hecks. The album plays like a news ticker scrolling across the cultural landscape. Over the course of its creation—a process that took place outside London and inside Los Angeles—the world became a darker place, crippled by war, global warming and fiscal catastrophe. They are the threads that drive this music. Over an eerie terrain of digital beats and heavy guitars—and with an arsenal of studio confectionary—the music filters apocalyptic dread so that, by the end, light shoots through the cracks and the only answer is hope.

The band were joined by Jon Sadoff on keyboards/guitar/vocals, Jeremy Faccone on guitar/vocals, and Jason Hiller on bass for a triumphant run of dates at Los Angeles’ Key Club every Tuesday for the month of September, 2009. Word of mouth grew so that the club seamed as though it was burst apart by the residency’s final show. It was through write ups in LA City Beat and LA Weekly that national press started taking interest, with Rolling Stone featuring Dhani three times in its pages.

The band was one of the final musical guests on The Late Show with Conan O’Brien when it made its national television debut . The band wowed the festival crowds last year at Coachella and Lollapalooza as well as on their last tour supporting Wolfmother. Anticipation is building for the band’s second release which they are currently recording.
