While many school districts are cutting their music programs, the Paul Green School of Rock is proliferating. Founded in Philadelphia in 1998 (five years before the release of the movie School of Rock, starring Jack Black as Green), the school now operates in a couple dozen cities. Green picks prize students from across the country for his School of Rock All-Stars, who get the opportunity to play professional gigs with the likes of Adrian Belew and Yes’ Jon Anderson. Be forewarned that on the school’s Web site, it’s written “The All-Stars have but one mission: TOTAL ROCK DESTRUCTION.”
